Mike and I made an early morning visit to the small country cemetery where my mom, grandmother, and grandfather are buried. Sue

Lake Huron.............

Lake Huron is only twenty minutes from our white house. When you step out from the woods onto this beautiful beach it seems as if you are worlds away. I can't describe how wonderful it is, but I hope the pictures can. Sue

That kind of summer..........

Last night brought back memories of hot summer nights growing up in our upstairs apartment. My mom always said, " Lie perfectly still and you will feel the breeze." Maybe it will be that kind of summer. Sue

It must be summer..............

The temperature is soaring. I have a screen in every window. The fan cooled us to sleep last night. The water meter is spinning out of control and Mike is yelling out the back door for me to turn off the sprinkler. It must be summer! Sue

Lucky morning............

I woke up early, but decided not to take my ususal morning walk around the neighborhood . I needed to mow the lawn while it was still cool. Then I changed my mind, took a cup of coffee and headed down the street. As I was passing by Warren and Helen's big old house I was sure I saw an old sink and claw foot tub on their front porch! I hurried up the walk and as I was peering over the porch railing Warren opened the front door. He said his son was helping him remodel the upstairs bathroom and they carried the cast iron tub and sink out yesterday. I told him that they would be perfect in our bathroom as I was anxious to take out the new fixtures. He said I could have them and I was excited. I also felt sad they had taken them out of their nice old house. Sue

A road less traveled...........

Our recycling center is a few miles out of town. I've discovered a way to get there on a road less traveled. It's a long bumpy dusty road that goes past a sheep farm. But the best part is the abandoned farmhouse that is nearly hidden behind two huge spruce trees. I always stop and sit on the front porch awhile. It's so perfectly quiet there. Sue

Fond memories..........

Dear Sarah, I received your Mother's Day postcard today. It's a photo that brings back such fun times at the lake. I think Grandma took that picture. Thank-you so much. It is pouring rain and foggy here today. It was good day for your card. We miss you. Love, Mom

On the road again..........

I've been mourning the loss of our 1993 suburban since early March. Last night after dinner we walked down the hill to the car lot like we've done for eight weeks. At last, there is was! A 1995 Ford econoline van. We agreed it was just right for us and the price was more than right! Old, clean, simple, and very large. It feels like we've owned it forever. I'm happy and on the road again. Sue

Gardening??????

Even daydreamig about gardening may be difficult today. Sue

Daydreaming.............

It's raining on the garden and grass seed today. I'm slowing gaining faith that the garden will look nice this summer. If you have a big imagination you will see sunflowers and hollyhocks on the right and delphinium and foxglove on the left. There will be radishes, onions, lettuce, strawberries, squash, tomatoes, peppers, green beans, and cucumbers in the raised beds. Sue

For sale............

The white house is for sale. It seemed like such a nice idea to move back to my hometown. However, the saying you can't go home has proved to be very true for me. I moved from here to Traverse City when I was eighteen years old. Traverse City is where I started college and where I met Mike. It's where we purchased our first house and several others after that. It's where our girls were born and grew up. It's where we loved pets and lost pets. It's where our friends are. Traverse City is where everything is familiar. I need to go back, I'm lonesome. Sue

Mike's mom............

I thought of Mike's mom today as I picked a bouquet of lilies of the valley. She loved them. Sue

Mrs. Weingart's........

I had nothing for my blog today . I wandered through town with my camera when suddenly my mood lifted. It was Mrs. Weingart's back yard. Mrs. Weingart is gone as are her gardens. Her house is empty. But her back yard was beautiful! I waded ankle deep among the blue for-get-me-nots and yellow dandelions. I remembered visiting her when I was little. And oh the fence. I love that fence. Sue

Blossoming.........

I woke up this morning to mud puddles in the alley and blossoms on our apple trees, pear trees, and lilacs. Sue
