Sweet peas..............

There are beautiful sweet peas growing wild all over town, but I can't get them to grow in my garden. Sue

Thunderstorms..........

We woke up to a blue sky and sunshine.......at last! However by noon a wild thunderstorm rolled in from the west blowing my laundry to the ground and sending me to the basement. Sue

We worked in the garden between rain showers today. My hollyhocks are just beginning to open! Sue

Happily ever after...........

Mike and I were married here at St. Paul on June 24th., 1972 and have lived happily ever after..........so far. Sue

Coming home from camping and unpacking is like taking down the Christmas tree. We had fun and perfect weather. Sue

The Dunes.........

We didn't think about camping when we purchased the van, but finding it works perfectly. We are camping at the Dunes in Petoskey today. It's a beautiful spot. Sue

Lots of rain..........

It has rained nearly everday. The grass is so green and our water bill should be back to normal this month! Sue

New neighbor.........

We are happy to see a crew fixing the little house next door. Sue

New crocs have been shipped........

If you know me you know I don't spend money on clothes. Sarah gave me my red crocs for Christmas when she was still in college. I've worn them everyday since. Spring, summer, fall, and winter. I have slipped so many times lately as the soles are worn smooth. Mike convinced me today to go online and order a new pair. Sue

Purdy Road...........

We are finding so many charming places to buy eggs! Sue

And the thunder rolls.........

It's getting dark and the rumbling of thunder is coming closer. I'm going where I always go during a storm......in the closet. Sue

Cold, dark morning..........

I was not so happy when I woke up to this cold dark morning. I went to the garden and cut some delphiniums for the kitchen and it has certainly lifted my spitits. Sue

It's raining, it's pouring..........

Lots of big puddles today from all the rain last night. Sue

How does your garden grow............

The soaking rain last week really helped our garden. The hollyhocks are up to my neck. The sunflowers are past my knees. However the rabbits have eaten all of the beans and it's time to pull weeds again. Sue

Petoskey..........

We drove back from Traverse City on Sunday. I persuaded Mike to stop in Petoskey long enough for me to ooh and aah over every flower box along Howard Street. It was pouring rain, but I ducked in and out of brightly colored awnings snapping pictures. Sue

Leelanau.........

We drove to Traverse City and Suttons Bay this morning. We are having a great time. It is so good to be back. Visited our friend at her very old cottage on the lake. She has the biggest beech tree ever by the front porch. We are camping at the state park tonight and driving back to the white house tomorrow. Sue

Homesick.........

I thought I was too old to be homesick. I remember how homesick I was when I was ten and away at summer camp. Then the feeling came back when I left for college. Now I am longing for Traverse City and Leelanau. I have that feeling in the pit of my stomach. We are going back tomorrow for a visit. I hope that helps! Sue

Abandoned cabin...........

We stopped to visit another of my favorite abondoned houses today. This one is on the way to Cheboygan. It is whitewashed logs with a centennial farm sign in the yard.....and a wonderful front door.! Sue

I'm looking forward to having breakfast, lunch, and dinner from our garden. Sue
