Tomorrow............

I woke up with a mental list of what I needed to do today. Mow the lawn, keep the new seed watered, spread manure on the garden, and hang out the clothes. It was a beautiful day and we worked through most of the list. But by three o'clock that cot on the sunporch looked so inviting that's where I ended the day. I'll mow the rest of the lawn tomorrow. Sue

Calm and sensible..........

Visited a beautiful garden center today and purchased 50 lbs. of grass seed and manure. I saw so many other things I would have liked, but remained calm and sensible! Calm and sensible is so unlike me. Sue

Headed for the sunporch..........

We've been working out in the dirt all day. I just took a shower and I'm headed to the cot on the sunporch with my new magazines. Sue

Red wheelbarrow gets a rest............

Our neighbor insisted we use his green garden trailer today.He said the red wheelbarrow was no match for our large pile of dirt. It has really made a huge difference in our time and energy. We should level that pile tomorrow. Sue

Forget-me-nots welcome............

Some gardeners may choose to call forget-me-nots weedy, but they are welcome to romp freely in my garden. Sue

Camera not working.........

A beautiful day. Hazy sunshine and windy. My camera is no working. Will take it somewhere tomorrow. Hope to have some pictures soon. Sue

Strawberries and cream................

Mike and I were tired today and took the afternoon off. I went for a walk in the woods across the street from our house and then ate a big bowl of California strawberries and cream. Sue

We can paint...............

April weather can be so frustrating. A beautiful sunny day followed by today. Dark and cold. Too cold to work outside and Mike has issued a moratorium on tearing anything apart inside this week. He says we should paint the ceiling on the sun porch. Oh, alright. Sue

Black Cherry Ice Cream...............

I'm feeling sorry for myself today. I'm missing our shop, The Red Ladder. I know we can't have the shop right now. I know we need to fix this white house right now. I know this Black Cherry ice cream is not the answer right now, but I think I may have some anyway. Sue

Spring green...........

The big maple trees that shade our sun porch are leafing out in a lovely shade of spring green. Sue

Mounds of yellow..........

A huge stately white house once stood across the street and up the hill a few feet from our house. I've only seen pictures of it, but the property remains beautiful. There are old stone walls, big cement steps, moss covered sidewalks, a stone garage, masses of forget-me-nots and violets, ivy,lilacs and this massive old growth forsythia hedge.

Back to work...........

My rusty 1980 model wheelbarrow finally gave out. It has moved it's share of dirt. I thought I would have the rest of the day off, but Mike just came home with a new red wheelbarrow. Back to work. Sue

First cup of coffee..........

I like coffee, but I've decided I love carrying it around more than drinking it. In the summer I take my first cup outside very early to start watering. I put it down to move the sprinkler and on it goes. By sunrise there are cups on fence posts, in trees, and on steps and window sills. I realize after awhile I haven't had my first cup of coffee yet. Sue PS. Mike says don't forget all the cups on the back of the suburban that have gone to town and back without falling off!

Relaxing.............

I can't think of many things more relaxing for me than mowing the lawn and soaking in the tub. I did both today. Sue

April snow..........

Mike and I are back inside working on the bedroom. Snow has covered up any sign of spring for a second day. Sue

Sprouting........

Good my sunflowers are sprouting inside. Snow in the forecast for tomorrow. Sue

Decisions..........

Each spring we've had a robin nesting in the lilac outside the bedroom window. Today I've been watching a robin flitting back and forth from the lilac to the old apple tree. Decisions. Sue

More top soil.........

Rob has brought seventeen loads of top soil since we purchased the white house. Mike says no wonder the house doesn't get done. I am spending too much money on the yard. Sue

With all the warm weather I'm on my summer schedule already. This means the yard and garden have priority over housekeeping. This is not my mother's house. Sue
